The Double-Board Hold'em PokerIs it possible to play two texas hold'em games ? Such is definitely possible when one is logged on to an online casino. An online poker player can even play more than two Texas Hold'em games simultaneously. But is it possible to play two poker games when one is inside a land-based casino. Such is possible if one plays a community card poker game, and the variation used is the "double-board hold'em". This particular poker variant, as suggested by its name, uses two boards. A board is the set of community cards that are shared by all the poker players at the poker table. All community card poker games utilize only one board, but such can be modified by using the rules of the Double-board Hold'em game. In this poker variant, each board is made up of five cards. And the game starts when each player is dealt with their personal cards. Even with two boards, the number of personal cards will not be doubled. Thus, if the poker game is Texas Hold'em, each poker player receives two personal cards. If the poker game is Pineapple, each poker player receives three personal cards only. And if the poker game is Omaha Hold'em, each poker player receives four personal cards. Once the personal cards are dealt, the first betting round commences. Like in all poker games, the poker players have the option to call, bet, raise and fold. Then, if the rules of the poker game utilized allow checking, the players may also check. After the first betting round, the dealer places three community cards on each board. That is, the dealer reveals a total of six community cards. And then, the second betting round is conducted. After the second betting round, the dealer places one community card on each board. At this point, each board has four community cards. This is immediately followed by another betting round. And lastly, the fifth community cards are placed on the two boards. And this is followed by the final betting round. And if there is more than one player left at the poker table, there will be a showdown. In the showdown, a poker player may win at one board or at the other. Or a poker player may win at both boards. In this manner, the double-board hold'em is similar to the split pot games, where the winning pot is divided equally between the best high hand and the best low hand. In the double-board, the pot is split between the poker player who won in the first board and the poker player who won in the second board. |
